a toddlers view

I am listening to a podcast geared towards preschoolers, which is an age I would love to teach. The podcast is kind of long, about 15 minutes. I realized keeping toddlers interested is a very important focus on this. It starts by saying hello and has children say hello as well, which even interested my 9 month old. Then it plays sounds that are focused around whatever the lesson is that week. This week was farming, so the sounds were of a tractor, digging, and water. My 3 year old was listening to it and was excited to be able to guess what the sounds are. Children love to explain things, and the fact that she could tell me what she was hearing got her excited! After that they played a song that the children on the cast sang. Something about hearing other children sing makes my girls want to join in. My daughter was also trying to dance to the song. Next is story time, this week was the story of the enormous turnip. The moral of the story seemed to be that its good to ask for help when a task is too large to accomplish on your own. They then sang one more song before saying goodbye and the podcast ending. I think a podcast like this on would be great to help tea hers of young children plan a lesson for their class. You could add in a dance with the songs to get the children up and active, or have props or sensory objects to go along with the sounds. Well this is my first blog and I plan on listening to the podcast with my children every week and hopefully getting new ideas for lessons and songs for my future students. Thanks for reading!
